Duskfade Outfits and Sword Skins

Duskfade wears its Kingdom Hearts love on its sleeve, then lets you wear it too. Zirian’s default look already rhymes with Sora; Minutero rhymes with a Keyblade. The campaign also hides a recolour and a sword skin that make the homage explicit, plus a wider wardrobe gated behind Tailord’s kittens. This page is the practical unlock route, not a fashion editorial. For the Gold trophy tied to dressing up, you still need The Mask of Pain — dazzle Palette with your best outfit — listed on the trophies page.

Nothing here requires a Deluxe edition. Weird Beluga did not ship a paid cosmetic pass at launch. You spend Multicoloured Flasks (later called Flask of Dye), crystals, yarn from kittens, and Rainbow Ingots. Shops sit in Tick Town once the right NPCs come home.

Shared Memories — Minutero’s Keyblade-adjacent skin

Buy a Rainbow Ingot from the shopkeeper in central Tick Town, near the teleporter. Launch coverage notes it is inexpensive compared with late-game Traveler stock. Owning the ingot is not enough to equip the skin. You also need Grapple, which arrives toward the end of the first world (the same window the demo uses for hook-shot).

With Grapple, walk toward the Inn, turn right before you enter, and zip the gap to the blacksmith’s anvil — reviewers also call this Cloudphaestus’ customization forge. That is where Minutero palettes live, including Shared Memories. If the anvil is visible but you cannot attach, you are early, not lost.

Rainbow Ingots found in the world feed the same Gold The Most Beautiful Sword in the Land. The shop ingot is the convenience starter, not the entire set. Sweep the rest on the Rainbow Ingots route after Pendulum.

World Hopper — the Sora-like recolour

World Hopper is a colourway of Zirian’s base outfit, not a unique mesh. That is why it does not require a kitten. You need:

1. A Flask of Dye / Multicoloured Flask. They hide in the world; Cloudies and the Tick Town shopkeeper also sell one if you would rather skip a hunt.
2. Pendulum, unlocked near the end of the Underwater / Clockwork Academy. Pendulum breaks orange crystals.
3. Tailord back in Tick Town. Meet him in the Academy, help him escape (Be My Muse!), then smash the orange crystal below the Hills sign near the teleporter.
4. Buy World Hopper from Tailord for a flask plus crystals.

Players who know Kingdom Hearts often clock the heavier red as closer to Dream Drop Distance Sora than KH1. That is flavour, not a mechanical bonus. Combat stats do not change with paint.

Why kittens still matter

Other outfits do ask for Tailord’s kittens. Catching the full cat army is the Gold Come Here Right Meow and the yarn sink for extra looks. Kittens flee in straight-ish lines; drop from above or cut the angle. If a kitten sits behind an orange wall, it is a Pendulum problem. If it sits on a sky rail, it is a Grapple / glide problem. Log them on the collectibles tracker rather than screenshotting every bush.

Yarn is not the same currency as Star Shards. Do not expect the Traveler to sell kitten outfits. Tailord is the tailor; Palette is the critic you impress for The Mask of Pain.

Palette, Cloudies, and “best outfit”

The Mask of Pain wants you to dazzle Palette. Launch trophy text does not publish a hidden stat threshold. Practical approach: unlock World Hopper or another complete dyed set, talk to Palette in Tick Town, and cycle looks if the Bronze does not fire. Cloudies sell flasks that fund extra dyes. Breaking the Cloudie Guard’s pots is a different Bronze (Heartless) — do not confuse vandalism with fashion week.

Suggested unlock order so you do not stall the story

1. Play until Grapple. Buy the cheap Tick Town Rainbow Ingot when you have spare shards.
2. Grapple to the anvil and park Shared Memories for screenshots or comfort.
3. Finish the Academy, get Pendulum, rescue Tailord, open Hills.
4. Buy World Hopper immediately — it is the one look that does not wait on a 100% cat hunt.
5. Catch kittens on cleanup with the story walkthrough region list in hand.
6. Show Palette, then finish remaining dyes at your leisure.

If you only care about trophies, World Hopper plus a maxed sword is enough vanity; the Golds still demand all kittens and all Rainbow Ingots, not one pretty screenshot. Combat remains the same floaty, dodge-timed loop described in Temporal Shift. Skins will not fix lock-on. They will make Tick Town’s Twilight Town-adjacent soundtrack feel even more on the nose, which is half the point of this game.
